Sitting on her bed, Rachel
watches as two man approach her cottage. She fails to identify them from a
distance. She is not excepting anyone today. Thoughts are running in her head;
she does not have a lot of companions that can visit her. Could this be Mukunda
and his surprises again but these men are not carrying anything. Who could it
be then? As they approach closer to the cottage, from a distance another figure
appears it seems to be moving faster than them, probably he is running. She
waits for the strangers to arrive.
Salutations at the door
RACHEL
You can come
in please.
GENTLEMAN 1
Are you Miss
Rachel?
RACHEL
Yes I am.
How can I help you?
GENTLEMAN 2
We have been
sent to collect the bed that was bought for you by one of the teachers at the
school.
RACHEL
Why?
GENTLEMAN 1
We do not
know. We are just messengers doing our job.
RACHEL
Ok
messengers doing your job, go back to the man that sent you and tell him I said
‘they is no bed that is living this cottage not today tomorrow or anytime soon”
do you hear me?
The figure that had been
seen from a distance was now close it was Mukunda.
GENTLEMAN 2
Unfortunately
Miss we cannot do that.

MUKUNDA
Rachel
RACHEL
My goodness
Mukunda you are here. These two gentlemen are trying to steal my bed. They say
a man has sent them to come and take my bed away from me.
MUKUNDA
I am sorry
Rachel but you have to give them the bed.
RACHEL
What?
MUKUNDA
I am really
sorry, I wish I could explain but it will not make sense and you will not
understand. It is with a sad heart that I have to allow them to take the bed. I
cannot help you now.
RACHEL
No Mukunda I
thought you cared.
MUKUNDA
Yes I do
care.
RACHEL
If you do
then do not let them take away my bed. Where do you think I will lay my hand
on? It is cold at night and I cannot sleep on the floor. Please help me, I know
you can. Ever since I came here you the only person that has shown kindness to
me. Do not allow them to take away the goodness in you, please Mukunda.
MUKUNDA
I do care
about you and I have always. When I first saw you I did not think that once in
my life I can change and care for a woman. You unlocked a part of me that I
knew I had but I was not sure how to unleash it. You changed me Rachel.
RACHEL
If I did all
that to you then tell these two gentlemen to leave.
MUKUNDA
Gentlemen,
you can go on and take the bed. He rushes
off and leaves.
Rachel is left alone with a
lot of unanswered questions but most of all she is left with an empty cold
cottage. She does not have money to buy her own bed; she dashes off to the
school to get some desk to supplement the bed.
